20th Century Fox demands YouTube to disclose the identity of a user
( 30/01/2007,  יום שלישי)
The film company 20th Century Fox has obtained a court order, ordering YouTube and another video website called LiveDigital to disclose the identity of one of their users, who uploaded video episodes of the TV series "24", before its first broadcast on TV. The same user also uploaded episodes of "the Simpsons". It will be interesting to see how Google (which acquired YouTube a few months ago) will respond to this order, since the potential liability of YouTube for infringing activities conducted by its users, who upload copyrighted material, has been a most controversial subject, which may cast doubts as to the profitability of the Google-YouTube transaction. The following link leads to Zdnet's article on the subject.
